Almost Ready to Go

We have purchased our chariot - a 1997 model 190 Popular RoadTrek.  It is a conversion of the Dodge Ram 3500 Van and it is big!

It is fully equipped with two bunk beds, a commode, a galley kitchen with a sink, good sized refrigerator, two burner stove and microwave, a linen closet, storage above and below the bunks, a wardrobe, water heater,  furnace to keep warm, and two very comfortable "captain's chairs" that swivel to face the back, with a table that swings out for dining.  Really comfortable.

We took it to Connecticut for Vera's grandson and son-in-law to do some minor repairs and a major remodel - removed the third seat and replaced it with a cabinet to hold trashcans, topped with shelves to hold our travel guide books.  Pictures will follow as soon as it gets painted and stained.  We drove the RoadTrek home through a bit of snow - it handled well and achieved 17 mgp!!

We are hoping to start our trip on Thursday, March 3 - still a lot of details to take care of before we leave.

Our first stop will be in Sanford, NC (near Raleigh) to see an old friend, then to the home of Carole's son Pat near Augusta, Ga, then to her granddaughter Christina in Tallahasee.  After that we are on our own for a while, heading west along the coast.

We usually stay at State Campgrounds or US Parks or National Forests, but we are not too shy to spend the night at Walmart, wherever we find ourselves.  The price is right.

We will do our blogging whenever we find ourselves in reach of Wi-Fi.  You know how to reach us by cell phone, or you can leave a "comment" below and it automatically sends an e-mail to Vera alerting us that you commented.  We always enjoy receiving your messages!

Here's a picture of our "RIDE".

Vera's daughter Elizabeth made a video of our "Bon Voyage" from Connecticut.  If you want us to e-mail you a copy, let Vera know.
